Justification:
A subshrub endemic to southern Ecuador, where it is known from at least 12 populations. Most of these are along the Sígsig-Gualaquiza road, in the paramo of Matanga. One population has been confirmed inside the Parque Nacional Podocarpus. Considered Vulnerable due to a geographical range potentially smaller than 20,000 km². Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
