Justification: A rare shrub endemic to Andean cloud forest in Ecuador. Not known to occur in Ecuador’s protected areas network, but at least two of the six known populatinos are from the La Favorita and Río Guajalito private reserves. Other collections are from the Río Nanegal and Río Bolívar valleys, near Rosa Elvira. The species' potential range includes the Bosque Protector Maquipucuna and the Reserva Geobotánica Pululahua, especially the area close to the Río Guayllabamba. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known. |
