Scientific Name: Platythelphusa denticulata
Species Authority: Capart, 1952
Taxonomic Notes: Coulter (1991) treated this taxon as Potamonautes (Platythelphusa) denticulata. Cumberlidge et al. (1999) considered this taxon to be a possible junior synonym of P. armata. This taxon was revived by Marijnissen et al. (2004) following the reexaminaton of the type specimen and the collection of more material. This genus was formerly assigned (Cumberlidge 1999, Cumberlidge et al. 1999, Marijnissen et al. 2004) to the Platythelphusidae. It was recently transferred to the Potamonautidae: Potamonautinae by Cumberlidge et al. (2007).

Listed as Least Concern because there is no evidence that there is a decline in the extent and quality of its habitat and there are no long-term threats to its habitat from disturbance and pollution. Its extent of occurrence is less than 20,000 km² and it is known from less than five localities, so might otherwise qualify for VU under D2 or EN under B1a(iii) if threats or a decline in habitat were known.
History:
2004 Vulnerable
