This species, collected once in 1961 near Nosy-Ambositra (Befandriana-Sud) hasn’t been collected since. It grows in a scarcely collected area, which is highly prone to habitat destruction by fires. It is likely that this species is Endangered or Critically Endangered, however, without any more information available, the species is rated VU D2, awaiting further fieldwork and taxonomic studies.
