Justification:
The typical variety has an extent of occurrence of 4,938.01 km² and an area of occupancy of 2,253.95 km². Recorded from seven localities and comprises two or three subpopulations and there is continuing decline. It this only just qualifies as Endangered. Including the range information from the other variety (xanthadenia) therefore makes the species as a whole Vulnerable. But further information is required to confirm the status of var. xanthadenia.

Range Description: South-west Madagascar: Plateau Mahafaly, Tsihombe area, where it is locally common on rock outcrops; and Onilahy valley area, Sakamare.
