This species has a large extent of occurrence (44,598.6 km²) and a large area of occupancy (16,631.3 km²). Recorded from 17 localities and comprises three to four subpopulations. There are some threats, but these do not yet trigger a threatened status.

Range Description: Driest parts of south-west Madagascar: Tulear, Itampolo, Fort-Dauphin. E. intisy is common throughout its range.
