The taxonomic status of this species is problematic. It is likely to have a small extent of occurrence and area of occupancy, which has yet to be ascertained. It grows on rocky outcrops on the High-Plateau near Fianarantsoa and as such, is endangered by human activities. It is rated VU D2.
