The species is known only by Rauh’s specimens collected by Alfred Razafindratsira and has been categorised as VU D2 as it is known from only a single location and would be potentially threatened by any habitat loss or over-collecting. A full field survey to ascertain the exact extent of occurrence is needed (this plant may then be found to qualify for EN or CR).
