|Identification information:||Shrubs up to 2 meters in height, ray flowers bright yellow, pendent. Florets orange w/ yellow stamens.Calyx dark purple becoming green at apex, shinny. Petiole dark purple, stems sprawling or vining, leaves dark green.|

Bidens cosmoides has been assessed as Endangered. The taxon is endemic to the island of Kauaʻi and has an extent of occurrence of 230 km2. It has experienced severe and ongoing decline in habitat and numbers due to the impacts of alien invasive plants and animals. Its area of occupancy is 80 km2 and declining. Its distribution is limited, occurring in only five subpopulations located in four threat-defined locations.

|Habitat and Ecology:||The taxon is a perennial herb found in Hawaiian mesic forests dominated by Metrosideros polymorpha and Acacia koa. Other associated native plant species may include Elaeocarpus bifidus, Alyxia oliviformis, Exocarpus luteolus, Bobea brevipes, Coprosma waimeae, Cyanea leptostegia, Dianella sandwicensis, Dubautia latifolia, D. laevigata, Kadua affinis, Poa sandwicensis, Peperomia membranacea, Kadua cordata, Labordia helleri, Leptecophylla tameiameiae, Lobelia hypoleuca, Pittosporum kauaiensis, Pouteria sandwicensis, Psychotria mariniana, P. greenwelliae, P. grandiflora, Melicope barbigera, M/ ovata, M. anisata, Syzygium sandwicensis, Scaevola procera, and Cheirodendron ssp.|

|Major Threat(s):||Major threats to this taxon include lack of pollinator, invasive alien plants including Hedychium gardnerianum, Rubus argutus, Passiflora tarminiana, Psidium cattleianum, Erigeron karvinkianum, grazing from goats, rat depredation, habitat degradation by feral pigs, and wildfire. Fortini et al. (2013) characterized this taxon as extremely vulnerable to climate change (vulnerability index 0.792).|
