Justification:
A terrestrial herb endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from five subpopulations, distributed mainly in the paramos of northern Andean peaks. Not confirmed inside Ecuador's protected areas network, but recorded near the El Angel and Antisana protected areas. No locale information is available for recent subpopulations. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
