A treelet endemic to Ecuador, where it is distributed in the central and western Andes. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network, but may be found in the Reserva Ecológica Los Ilinizas. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.

Habitat and Ecology: A treelet of high Andean forest up to arbustivo desert, collected within an elevational range of 2,500–3,500 m.
