Justification:
A subshrub or shrub endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from five collections in the dry valleys between Girón and Saraguro, Azuay and Loja provinces. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
