Justification:
A terrestrial herb endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from two isolated subpopulations. The first was recorded in 1844, near Guápulo, currently inside the Quito metropolitan area. The second subpopulations was reported in 1999 in the surroundings of Cuicocha lake, inside the Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi-Cayapas. Additional subpopulations may occur in intermediate areas. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.

The second subpopulations were reported in the surroundings of Cuicocha lake, inside the Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi-Cayapas, Imbabura province. Additional subpopulations may occur in intermediate areas.
