Justification: A shrub endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from two collections. The first was made by A. Humboldt and A. Bonpland near Mulaló in 1802–03, the second in an unknown locale of Chimborazo 40 years ago. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species. |
