Justification: A terrestrial fern endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from at least six collections. Occurs mainly in forest on the western Andean slopes of Pichincha province. Two collections have been recorded in Carchi province, inside the Reserva Ecológica El Angel, near the pass on the El Angel-Tulcán road. Apart from habitat destruction, no other threats are known.
