Justification:
A shrub or treelet endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from a single collection from 1945 in Tipococha, between the Cañar and Chimborazo provinces. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network, but may occur in the Parque Nacional Sangay. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
