Justification:
A terrestrial herb endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from seven subpopulations on the northeastern slopes of the Andes. Two subpopulations have been found on the border of the Reserva Ecológica Cayambe-Coca, at the San Marcos lake and in the Paramo Guamaní. One subpopulation has been reported near the Parque Nacional Sangay and another in the Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi-Cayapas. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
