A subshrub or shrub endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from three Andean collections. The Pichincha subpopulation was recorded on the lower slopes of Cerro Ilaló, in Tumbaco valley. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.

Range Description: Known from three Andean collections. The Pichincha population was recorded on the lower slopes of Cerro Ilaló, in Tumbaco valley. Also found within the Cañar and Chimborazo provinces.
