Justification:
An epiphytic or terrestrial bromeliad endemic to Ecuador where it is known from a single population in the Cordillera de Huacamayos. Collections have been made on at kilometers 10, 30 and 40 on the Baeza-Tena road. Occurs inside the Parque Nacional Sumaco-Napo-Galeras and is likely to be present in the Reserva Ecológica Antisana. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
