Justification: A lithophytic bromeliad endemic to the southern province of Azuay in Ecuador. Known from five collections recorded in the same population, between kilometers 52 and 104 of the Cuenca-Pasaje road, in the rocks near Santa Isabel. The principal threat is destruction of its habitat by fire and the subsequent establishment of sugar cane plantations. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species. |
