Justification: A lithophytic bromeliad endemic to coastal Ecuador where it is known from two collections: the type collection made along the Río Negro 4 km along the Lita-Alto Tambo road; and another made 12 km along the same road. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network. The principal threat is deforestation due to colonization and grazing. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species. |
