Justification: An epiphytic or terrestrial bromeliad endemic to Andean Ecuador. Known from four subpopulations in the southeast of the country: on the Sígsig-Chigüinda road at an altitude of 2,500 m; near Limón in the region of Antenas; on the Yangana-Valladolid road at an altitude of 2,800 m; and on Cerro Toledo inside the Parque Nacional Podocarpus. At least two subpopulations are threatened by deforestation and agriculture. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species. |
