Justification: A terrestrial bromeliad endemic to Ecuador where it is known only from the type, collected in forests close to Los Tayos. This area has not been studied in detail due to the Ecuador-Peru conflict. The species is considered Endangered until new subpopulations are found as it is likely restricted to this geologically unique area outside of Ecuador’s protected areas network. No threats are known. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. |
