Justification:
A tree endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from three subpopulations in a small area along the Cotacachi-Apuela road, near the paramos of Tablachupa, Imbabura province. May occur in the nearby Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi-Cayapas. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
