Justification:
A shrub endemic to Ecuador. Known from a single collection reported in 1983 in a disturbed area along the Cuenca-San Joaquín-Angas road, southwest of Cuenca, between Bayán and the Hacienda Pucán. Not confirmed in Ecuador's protected areas network and unlikely to occur in the Cajas National Park. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
