Justification:
A shrub or treelet endemic to Ecuador, known from a single 1974 collection, in xerophytic vegetation of the Río Jubones valley, on the Pasaje-Santa Isabel-Girón road. The collection site is outside Ecuador’s protected areas network. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
