Justification:
A shrub endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from six subpopulations, recorded from the central Andes to Azuay province. Occurs inside the Parque Nacional Cajas and may be found in similar habitats within the Parque Nacional Llanganates and the Parque Nacional Sangay. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
