Justification:
A subshrub endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from a single old collection on the slopes of Volcán Antisana. Currently, this population may be protected inside the Reserva Ecológica Antisana. The principal threats are grazing and fires. Last recorded 150 years ago. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums.
