Justification:
A vine endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from several subpopulations in the Andes, especially on the slopes of Volcán Pichincha and around the Quito valley. The species has been recorded in the Refugio de Vida Silvestre Pasochoa and potentially may occur in other upper Andean protected areas in Ecuador. Most of the collections have been reported in wet areas along roads or trails. The number of collections reported in the last 20 years is very small, but the species may be widely distributed in disturbed areas or in remnants of Andean native vegetation. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.
