Justification:
A tree endemic to Ecuador, where it is restricted to a small area in the southeastern Andes. Two subpopulations have been reported at 33 km and 36 km off the Gualaceo-Limón road, and a third northeast of Sígsig. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.

Range Description: Restricted to a small area in the southeastern Andes, within the provinces of Azuay and Morona-Santiago. Two subpopulations have been reported 33km and 36km off the Gualaceo-Limón road, and a third northeast of Sígsig.
