Justification:
A terrestrial herb endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from six subpopulations not protected by the country's protected areas network. Additional subpopulations may occur in coastal forest and in lower dry inter-Andean valleys, in rocky canyons and dry areas. Current conservation status and specific threats are unknown. It was listed as Endangered in 1997, and remains in that category today. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.

Range Description: Known from six subpopulations within the Azuay, Cañar, Chimborazo and El Oro provinces. Additional subpopulations may occur in coastal forest and in lower dry inter-Andean valleys, in rocky canyons and dry areas.
