Justification:
A vine endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from three records in Pichincha province. The type was collected by E. André, prior to 1882, in Monte Corazón, at 2,500 m elevation. The species was next collected in 1887 by Padre L. Sodiro, "in forests along the road from Quito to Guayaquil", presumably somewhere in the western cordillera. The species was also collected by Holmgren and Heilbor, but with no information other than province. Not confirmed inside Ecuador's protected areas network, but may occur in the Reserva Ecológica Los Ilinizas and the Refugio de Vida Silvestre Pasochoa, because they preserve montane forest remnants. The principal threats are deforestation, invasive species and habitat fragmentation. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species.

Conservation Actions: Not known to occur within any protected areas, however, this species may occur in the Reserva Ecológica Los Ilinizas and the Refugio de Vida Silvestre Pasochoa, as they preserve montane forest remnants.
