Justification: A terrestrial herb endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from three old collections in Tungurahua province, one of them recorded between the Río Pastaza and the Río Negro. The lack of recent records may be attributed to the destruction of the type in the Berlin herbarium during the Second World War, or the fact that no botanical specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorian museums. Habitat destruction is the only known threat to the species. |
