Assessment Information [top]

Red List Category & Criteria: Least Concern     ver 3.1
Year Assessed: 2008
Assessor/s Kingdon, J., Butynski, T.M. & De Jong, Y.
Evaluator/s: Mittermeier, R.A. & Rylands, A.B. (Primate Red List Authority)
Justification:
This subspecies is listed as Least Concern as it is widespread in suitable habitat, though probably declining in all areas outside of protected areas due to habitat loss and degradation (though not at a rate that would warrant listing in a threatened category). There is a need for further research on the limits and interaction between this subspecies and C. m. moloneyi.
History:
2000 Lower Risk/least concern (Hilton-Taylor 2000)
1996 Lower Risk/least concern (Baillie and Groombridge 1996)
1988 Not Threatened (Lee et al. 1988)
