P. metohiensis has an extent of occurrence (EOO) <20,000 km² (area of occupancy (AOO) <500 km²) and is found in at least five and no more than 10 locations (karstic streams and springs in southern Dalmatia). There is a continuing decline in habitat quality in some areas due to pollution leading to eutrophication and a decline in AOO due to water extraction and drought.

Geographic Range [top]

Range Description: It is restricted to karstic streams and springs in the Musica river, Nevesinjsko polje, Gatacko Polje, Cernicko Polje, Dabarsko Polje and Ljuta river in southern Dalmatia, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
