Justification:
The known localities were not rediscovered during several expeditions by bryologists since 1864, including fieldwork in the 1970s. The species may therefore be considered Extinct.

Range Description: Formerly known from Ontario, Hastings County. Known only from the type and two other collections made in the same general locality between 1862 and 1864.
