The known area of occupancy is today less than 500 km² and the habitat of this species seems to be declining. It therefore meets the IUCN criteria for Endangered based on the small fragmented area, less than five localities, the decline of habitat quality, and declining number of locations.

Range Description: Four localities in the States of Querétaro and Zacatecas. One of the locality in Zacatecas may have been destroyed by human interference.
