Habitat and Ecology:Confined to sandstone outcrops, as scattered single individuals on sandy soils among rocks on forest margins or streambanks.

Major Threat(s): The few remaining patches of forest are under threat from cutting for firewood and timber, agricultural activities and coastal development.

Conservation Actions: There are populations in two provincial nature reserves and a local authority reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, also in a game reserve and a few demarcated forest areas in the Transkei.
