This species is only known from the type locality which is not precisely stated, where it has a very small range and presumably population (probably under 1,000 mature individuals). Based on the small extent of occurrence (under 30 km²), a potential continuing decline in the extent and quality of the habitat due to deforestation which would make the area a single location, this species could potentially be listed as Critically Endangered. However, the potential threat is just suspected and not confirmed as the locality is within a protected area. Hence it seems more precautionary at this stage to base the listing on the inferred population size which qualifies it for listing as Vulnerable.
