Known only from one locality in Vondrozo, where it is restricted to frequently flooded areas. The extent of occurrence and area of occupancy are estimated to be less than 7 km², and only about 40 mature individuals have been recorded in the field. The forest of Vondrozo is managed by the local community but logging operations still occur, hence there is continuing decline in the extent and quality of the habitat. The species therefore qualifies for a Critically Endangered listing. Conservation action is urgently required to prevent this species from going extinct.
