Range Description: Cyclopharynx fwae is only known from the Fwa River, tributary to the Lubu River, tributary to the Sankuru River, in the southeastern Congo River drainage, Kasaï Oriental Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Habitat and Ecology: Cyclopharynx fwae is a benthopelagic species. Larger specimens had guts entirely or almost entirely filled with sand. The smallest specimen had a gut filled with fine sand and fine vegetable matter, including large numbers of single barrel-shaped diatom species. (Roberts and Kullander 1994).
