Range Description:This species occurs in the Amazon forest in the Loreto department, Peru (Cowley 1941, Garrison 2006), in the Tiputini and Shiripuno rivers in the Orellana Province, and the Shushufindi pipeline in the Sucumbíos Province, Ecuador (von Ellenrieder and Garrison 2009).

Habitat and Ecology:Habitat includes rivers in lowland Amazon forest and small forest streams (Cowley 1941, Kimmins 1970, Garrison 2006, von Ellenrieder 2009). It has also been collected from a dirt road and oil pipeline in very small streams crossing in a village of the Sucumbíos Province (D. Wagner, R. Vargus, W. Haber et al. pers. obs. 2011).

Conservation Actions [top]

Conservation Actions: The known localities are not within protected areas. In Ecuador, it has been collected in the Tiputini Biodiversity Station, adjacent to the Yasuni Biosphere Reserve (von Ellenreider and Garrison 2009). Surveys to find more localities, establish distribution range, study biology and trends, and evaluate threats are necessary.
