Justification: The species is considered to be a candidate for Vulnerable D2, given the small restricted range, the number of locations and the potential threats to groundwater in the region, with impact of pollution and over-abstraction. In Italy it was considered to be Near Threatened, and as such could be listed as this status as well. In order to follow the precautionary attitude elsewhere, it has been listed as Vulnerable D2, pending further data on distribution in the valley and information of the rate of decline in the habitat, and the potential impact on this species.

Range Description:	Alzoniella lunensis is endemic to north-western Italy (Toscana and Liguria) where it is restricted to the Magra River basin (Bodon and Cianfanelli 2002).
