Lepidotrigla venusta has been assessed as Data Deficient.  This species is known from only the type specimen and so there is little information available. The species may be taken as by-catch. Further research is needed on its range, abundance and threats, before a more accurate assessment of its conservation status can be made.

Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology:Like other searobins, Lepidotrigla venusta is a demersal species. The type specimen was collected from a depth of around 82 m (Eschmeyer 1999).

Threats [top]

Major Threat(s): It is unknown whether Lepidotrigla venusta is being impacted by any major threat processes.  Like its congeners, this species may be taken as by-catch by trawls throughout its range (E. Murdy pers. comm. 2009).

Conservation Actions [top]

Conservation Actions: There are no species-specific conservation measures in place for Lepidotrigla venusta. Further research is needed on the distribution, abundance, biology and ecology of this species, as well as on its potential threats.

Errata [top]

Errata reason: This errata assessment has been created because the map was accidentally left out of the version published previously.
