Listed as Least Concern, because it most likely is widely distributed, has a presumed large population, and because it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.

Geographic Range [top]

Range Description: This species is known from peninsular and eastern India, Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah (Malaysian Borneo), where it is confirmed from Sepilok Forest Reserve (Vanitharani et al. 2003; Struebig et al. 2006). Another record from Tanjung Puting National Park in Kalimantan (Borneo) represents the first record of this species in Indonesia (Struebig et al. 2006). This species may be much more widespread than is currently known (Vanitharani et al. 2003).

Population: This species has only recently been resurrected from its subspecific status within K. papillosa (Vanitharani et al. 2003). The abundance, population size and trends are not known.

Habitat and Ecology: There is little information available about the ecology and habitat preferences of this species. In India it is found in the forests of Tamil Nadu (Vanitharani et al. 2003).

Conservation Actions: This species is known to occur in Borneo in Sepilok Forest Reserve and Tanjung Puting National Park (Struebig et al. 2006). Further studies are needed into the distribution, abundance, natural history and threats to this species.
