Listed as Endangered because it is currently known from less than five locations, with a total extent of occurrence of less than 5,000 km², and there is an ongoing decline in the extent and quality of its habitat.

Range Description: This species is endemic to Mexico. Disjunct locations are recognized; southwestern Michoacan in the Sierra de Coalcoman and in the northeast in eastern Volcanic Belt, and in the extreme western Volcanic Belt in southern Jalisco and adjacent Colima.
