Justification:
Only known from three localities in the Ruaha drainage. Its restricted distribution and narrow habitat preferences makes it more vulnerable to local habitat degradation.

Geographic Range [top]

Range Description: Endemic to the area between Iringa and a point 15 km southwest of Igunda on the northwestern slopes of the Southern Highlands, southwestern Tanzania. This region includes the upper drainages of the Ndembera and Idodi rivers and the middle and lower reaches of the Little Ruaha River (Seegers 1995).

Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology: Found in the headwaters of the streams of the northwestern slopes of the Southern Highlands, indicating that it prefers a cooler climate (Seegers, 1995). Detritivore (Seegers 1995). Probably a single spawning period (Seegers 1995). Common throughout its distribution area (Seegers 1995). Max. size: 10–20 mm TL.
