Justification: Endemic to Lakes Malawi, Malombe and the Upper Shire River where it is widespread with no known major widespread threats. |

| Range Description: | Endemic to Lake Malawi, the Upper Shire River, and Lake Malombe. In Lake Malawi it is a common species in the southern part of the lake as far north as Senga bay on the west coast and Fort Maguire on the east coast. |
