Justification: Endemic to Lake Malawi where it is thought to be widespread with no major widespread threats identified.

Range Description:	Endemic to Lake Malawi where it has been observed at Kande, but is thought likely to have a much wider distribution. The Type specimens were collected at an unknown location.

Habitat and Ecology:	Occurs in the intermediate habitat where it feeds by sifting silt from the sandy bottom through its gills, mainly finding invertebrates. Territorial males defend a spawning site in the habitat close to rocks (they do not construct nests). Breeding has been observed in May and June. Reported not to have been exported (1990). Max. size: 13 cm.
