| Habitat and Ecology: | Occur in offshore sandy beaches at an average depth of about 10 m. Can occur as deep as 50 m. In the south western arm of Lake Malawi it is frequently encountered at 30 m. Fecundity ranges from 100–315 for females weighing between 40–250 g. Known as "Haplochromis Lepturus Line" in the aquarium trade. |
